The woman’s two sons were alerted and chased the burglars who escaped. As local residents were disturbed the gang targeted a third house but a man fired a shotgun in the air to intimidate the thieves. Helles Frappe reported “for some bizarre reason, the perpetrators decided to return to the second home they attempted to rob.” The son of the woman they had held at knife-point shot and killed one of the gang in self-defence after “his rifle backfired.” The Albanian thief died instantly. Meanwhile the Greek man turned himself into police and is currently being held in custody.
