Prime Minister Sali Berisha participated today in the ceremony for arrival of Iliria Coast Guard vessel in Durres port. In his greeting speech delivered on this occasion, PM Berisha considered the arrival of this ship as the beginning of a great effort at modernization of the Naval Forces and the Albanian military forces in general.

The prime minister ensured the Naval Forces and the Albanian Armed Forces in general that the government is determined to make all efforts at their modernization. While assessing their rather important role and mission, the prime minister emphasized that, The old technologies will be things of the past because they are useless, but also punish the ones who use them. We are determined to separate ourselves from them and make every effort to introduce modern means into the Naval Forces, ground troops but even the Air Force

At the ceremony held at the quay 5 of Durres sea port, Premier Berisha handed over the flag of the ship to the commander of the Iliria, Lieutenant Blerim Hoxha, who hoisted it while our national anthem was played. Further on, Premier Berisha, accompanied by the Executive Manager of the Damen Shipyard company, Defense Minister Gazmend Oketa, Interior Minister Bujar Nishani, Minister for Foreign Affairs Lulzim Basha, diplomats attending the ceremony and others, visited the Iliria vessel and sailed a short distance in the sea.

The Iliria is the first ship in the framework of the Modernization Program of the Naval Force. It will be followed by three other ships of the same type that will be named Orik, Lisus and Butrinti.

Among other things, Premier Berisha said:

“We are gathered together here to celebrate a very important and marked event for the Naval Forces, military forces, but even for the country as a whole. Today, we inaugurate the Iliria Coast Guard set sail. Also it marks the beginning of a great and ceaseless effort at modernization of our naval forces and the Albanian Army in general.

Albania has a long coastline and the modern Coast Guard is indispensable for the security of our waters, fight against trafficking, search and rescue operations and cooperation with the Coast Guard forces of the friendly countries.

The Iliria Coast Guard vessel was build at the shipyard of one of the most major companies of the world, the Damen Shipyard, in the Netherlands. It is a product of a great cooperation between the two countries and the two governments. On this occasion, I would like to express the deepest gratitude to the Dutch government, the embassy of the Netherlands in Tirana, the representatives and executives of the Damen Shipyard company for this successful cooperation.

Almost a century ago a Dutch colonel founded the Albanian Army working with great love and devotion to Albania and the Albanians as the then Great Powers had caused the greatest historical injustice in Europe against them. The memory and contribution Colonel Thomson made is well-known and held in high esteem not just among the Armed Forces, but also the whole Albanian nation. This new cooperation follows a tradition and is its reflection.

The Executive Director of the Damen Shipyard expressed his regret he couldnt address the audience in Albanian, but this is of no importance at all as the vessel he brought is fluent in Albanian. Therefore, I would like to thank you, Mr. Executive Director, as well as the Coast Guard of your country for this wonderful product you brought today in our coasts. On this occasion, I would like to ensure once again our naval forces and the Armed Forces of Albania that the government is determined to make all efforts for their modernization. To this end, the Albanian government raised its defense budget to 2% of the GDP and I think this should be a long-term policy of the government of Albania.

Christoph R. Hörstel über deutsche Politik, Iran und Afghannistan

Christoph R. Hörstel (Jahrgang 1956) ist Enkel des Rechtsanwalts Walter Hörstel, der einstmals dazu gezwungen war, sich seinen “Arierpass” zu stehlen und zu fälschen, um in Deutschland überleben zu können. Christoph R. Hörstel hat nach dem Wehrdienst eine Ausbildung bei der Deutschen Bank und ein Studium in München absolviert: Sinologie und Romanistik (Französisch, Spanisch) sowie Marketingstrategie an der Universität Basel.

Ab 1985 war er beim ARD-Fernsehen als Sonderkorrespondent und Nachrichtenmoderator mit 2.500 live-Sendungen, sowie als leitender Redakteur. Ab 1999 wechselte er zu Siemens (mobile division) als Leiter der Bereichskommunikation und gründete 2001 die Regierungs- und Unternehmensberatung “Hörstel Networks” in München.

Hörstel gilt in Politik und Medien aufgrund seiner 23 Jahre Erfahrung aus erster Hand in Afghanistan and Pakistan als Experte für Afghanistan, Islamismus und Terror. In Afghanistan und Pakistan war er auch als Regierungsberater tätig. Weitere Einsätze führten Hörstel in den Irak (Herbst 2003) und Iran (Sommer 2005). Im Frühjahr 2006 begann Hörstel seine Tätigkeit als Coach für ausgewählte Führungskräfte der deutschen ISAF-Truppe im Fach “Landeskunde Afghanistan”.

Im Wintersemester 2006/7 lehrte Hörstel am “Institut für Friedensforschung und Sicherheit” der Universität Hamburg zum Thema: “Terror-Mediation am Beispiel Afghanistan”. Im Oktober 2007 veröffentlichte er sein Buch “Sprengsatz Afghanistan: Die Bundeswehr in tödlicher Mission”, dem im September 2008 das Buch “Brandherd Pakistan: Wie der Terrorkrieg nach Deutschland kommt” folgt.

Christoph R. Hörstel ist verheiratet, hat zwei Töchter und lebt in München.

MM: Sehr geehrter Herr Hörstel, bis vor zwei Jahren saßen Sie im Beirat der Deutsch-Arabischen-Gesellschaft (DAG). Heute tun Sie das nicht mehr. Können Sie uns die Umstände etwas genauer erläutern?

Hörstel: Ich bin nicht mehr Mitglied der DAG, seit mich der Vorstand auf Betreiben der Bundesregierung beim Präsidenten Wiesheu (Lobbyist der Bahn AG) aus dem Beirat entfernt hat. Die Bundesregierung hat dies im Frühjahr 2006 unternommen, nachdem ich für ein Mitglied der Hamas-Regierung Bundestagskontakte in Deutschland organisiert hatte. Die Reise des parteifreien Flüchtlingsministers Atef Adwan in die Bundesrepublik ging damals durch die Presse. Während der Reise erklärte die Bundesregierung Herrn Adwan zur “persona non grata”. Ich habe dann erklärt, dass ich die Palästina-Politik der Bundesregierung mit politischen Mitteln zertrümmern helfen werde, bis sie in kleinen Stücken am Boden liegt - restlos. Dies tue ich, weil die Politik der Bundesregierung besonders im Kontakt mit manchen muslimischen Ländern oder Problemzonen permanent das Völkerrecht missachtet. Ich schulde es mir selbst als Christ und Deutscher, dieses ekelhafte Treiben nicht länger zu dulden.

MM: Nun, wenn sowohl die USA als auch Israel die Hamas als terroristische Vereinigung einstufen, konnten Sie sich dann ernsthaft vorstellen, dass eine Bundesregierung, noch dazu die aktuelle, eine als “Terroristen” eingestufte Person willkommen heißt?

Hörstel: EU-Außenpolitiker Javier Solana hatte erklärt, er könne die Hamas nicht als Terror-Organisation einstufen, weil sie zu wenig Terror-Akte begehe. Flüchtlingsminister Atef Adwan, den ich für einen charaktervollen feinen Mann halte, ist nicht einmal Mitglied der Hamas. Wegen der völker- und menschenrechtswidrigen Politik Israels gegenüber der demokratisch gewählten Palästinenser-Regierung kam Adwans Besuch bei uns in Deutschland damals einem humanitären Notruf gleich, da hätten wir Deutsche auf doppelter Grundlage zeigen können, dass wir aus der Nazizeit gelernt haben: Kein Krieg mehr von deutschem Boden aus, kein Rassismus, keine Unterdrückung, keine Benachteiligung bestimmter Religionen oder ihrer Gläubigen. Das erwarte ich von jeder Bundesregierung - andernfalls hat sie die Berechtigung zur Amtsausübung verloren: Nach dem deutschen Grundgesetz und völlig unabhängig vom Wahlergebnis.

MM: Ihre zunehmend öffentlich geäußerte Kritik an der Nahost-Politik Deutschlands bzw. der Politik gegenüber Muslimen bezieht sich ja nicht nur auf Palästina, was passt Ihnen grundsätzlich nicht?…….
