ZAGREB, Croatia -- Miroslav Tudjman, the son of Croatia's first president, Franjo Tudjman, and philosophy professor at Zagreb University, intends to run for president of Croatia next year. Tudjman announced on Monday (March 23rd) that he will campaign as an independent. He plans to fund his effort himself but will accept donations from supporters. His father founded the Croatian Democratic Union party and became president after Croatia declared independence in 1991. He died in December 1999.
