Osama bin Laden Focuses on the Balkans for the New Wave of Anti-Western Terrorism

Starting in mid-August 2003, radical Islamist leaders elevated the rôle of the terrorism infrastructure in the Balkans as a key facilitator of a proposed escalation of conflict into the heart of Europe, Israel and the United States. The terrorism campaign aims to define the US occupation of Baghdad as the turning point in the fateful jihad for the future of Islam. The importance of the concurrent expansion of Islamist operations in the Balkans should be examined in this overall context. 

The most telling development was the nomination of Shahid Emir Mussa Ayzi to coordinate and run special recruitment operations. Ayzi is a veteran of Afghanistan who is close not only to the al-Qaida élite but also the Taliban leadership. Recently, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden’s senior commanders decided to expand the recruitment and activation of Slav cadres, because they look European and non-Arabs, in order to enhance their ability to operate at the heart of the West. 

In August 2003, Ayzi took over this sensitive recruitment drive. The main recruitment pool consists of Bosnian Muslims with a smaller effort relying on Russian converts recruited in Chechnya and the Caucasus as a whole. Although the Islamists had run a recruitment and training drive of Bosnian Muslims expert terrorists and would-be martyr-bombers since the early 1990s, these cadres had not until now been used. 

Now, circumstances seem to be changing. In late August 2003, Ayzi sent a report to Mullah Qudratullah, a senior Taliban official, about his success in enlisting “persons of Slav ethnicity” to the Islamist jihad. He added that some of these “white devils” had already been indoctrinated and trained to the point of sending them to carry out “Allah’s Work” — that is, terrorist martyrdom-strikes — “in a number of European cities and on Israeli territory”. The preparation of additional Slav cadres for US operations is in progress, Ayzi reported. The training and preparation of Ayzi’s recruits is taking place in the Balkans and the Caucasus, mainly Georgia………….

Slovenia Arrests Key Kosovo Islamist, Based on Serbia-Montenegro Indictment

Police in Slovenia on October 22, 2003, working on an Interpol warrant, arrested the commander of the Kosovo Protection Corps (KPC), Brig.-Gen. Agim Ceku, 43, on the basis of an indictment issued by the Government of Serbia & Montenegro on the crime of genocide. His arrest for genocide as part of the war crimes committed against civilians in the Serbian province of Kosovo in 1999 was expected to cause embarrassment for one of his principal champions, US Democratic Presidential candidate, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander (SACEUR) Gen. (rtd.) Wesley Clark.

However, it also caused considerable embarrassment for United Nations officials, who continue to pay Ceku’s salary, despite widespread acknowledgement of his involvement in war crimes. A spokesman for the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) said that “it seemed” that Ceku was arrested on the basis of an “old” warrant and that UNMIK was attempting to resolve the matter with the Slovenian authorities. Sources close to UNMIK said that this meant that they were trying to ensure that Ceku was freed so that he could leave the Slovenian jurisdiction to avoid embarrassment to UNMIK.

GIS on October 15, 2003, in a report entitled Strong Warning Indicators for New Surge in European Islamist Terrorism, indicated that Ceku’s KPC was directly engaged in support of Albanian-trained Islamist terrorists, noting:

“During the first half of August 2003, 300 Albanian-trained guerillas — including appr. 10 mujahedin (non-Balkan Muslims) — were infiltrated across the Albanian border into Kosovo, where many have subsequently been seen in the company (and homes) of members of the so-called Kosovo Protection Corps which was created out of Kosovo Albanian elements originally part of the KLA. In fact, the Kosovo Protection Force seems almost synonymous with the Albanian National Army (ANA), the new designation for the KLA. The guerillas were trained in three camps inside the Albanian border at the towns of Bajram Curi, Tropoja and Kuks, where the camps have been in operation since 1997.”

DURRËS- Zona e Porto-Romanos në Durrës është një nga hot-spotet më problematike të ndotjes kimike. Ajo është shkaktuar nga lëndë kimike (linden etj.), që gjenden të pranishme me perqindje shumë të larta në tokë, në ujërat sipërfaqësore, në ujin e pijshëm (ujë pusi), në qumështin e lopëve, në gjakun e banorëve etj, të gjitha këto mbeturina të veprimtarisë së dikurshme të ish-uzinës së lindenit, si dhe të mbeturinave të lëndëve kimike që për shumë vitesh u lanë pa u siguruar në ish-magazinat e saj.

Megjithëse në vazhdimësi është ngritur zëri për rrezikshmërinë që paraqesin helmet e ndryshme nga lëndët kimike të depozituara në Porto-Romano, qeveria është e shurdhër dhe nuk bën asgjë për marrjen e masave për zgjidhjen përfundimtare të gjendjes. Shpesh banorë të zonës ankohen për probleme të ndryshme shëndetësore, për gjendjen e ujit të pijshëm, për rrezikun që paraqet ndotja e zonës për ushqimin e bagëtive e më gjerë.

Për më tepër, zona e Porto-Romanos është arritur të shndërrohet në bartëse e përbërjes kimike të helmeve të ndryshme, edhe si vend për “strehimin” e “grumbullimin” e mbeturinave të lëndëve të ndryshme kimike.

Gjendja bëhet edhe më shqetësuese në këtë zonë bregdetare, ku në 10-15 vjetët e fundit në të janë vendosur mjaft banorë të shpërngulur nga vise të ndryshme, nga halli dhe nga mundësia e dhënë për gjetjen e një trualli të lirë e pa telashe, truall pa zot, duke harruar për një çast rrezikun që e kanë gjithmonë në prag e brenda shtëpisë së tyre. Edhe në vet ish-godinën e fabrikës gjetën strehim 5-6 familje të ardhura, që ende vazhdojnë të banojnë atje. Dhe pasojat dihen: në gjakun e banorëve të Porto-Romanos janë gjetur izomere të beta HCH (82 mg/litër). Njëkohësisht ai është me përmbajtje të lartë helmi etj.

Nga monitorimet e bëra për tipat e ndotjes dhe shkallën e saj, nga krahasimi i të dhënave me normat e Bashkimit Evropian del se sipërfaqja në Porto-Romano është tej mase e ndotur, gati si asnjë vend tjetër në territorin tonë. Vetëm kimikate të mbetyra stok që, në njërën a tjetrën formë, vazhdojnë të mbeten atje, si: lindan, sulfat karboni, bikarbonat natriumi, mono-dimetilaminë (370 tonë), kimikate toksike (20 000 tonë) etj., përbëjnë rrezik serioz për botën e gjallë..

Die Italiener wollten 1998 mit Hilfe von Fatos Nano, eine Müll Verbrennungs Anlage bauen, wo Italienischer Müll entsorgt wird. Das haben damals die örtlichen Politiker verhindert.  Und genau dort (etwas östlich) waren die grossen Flüchtlings Camps 1999.
